Rhio is a singer and author, as well as an investigative reporter in the area of health and environmental issues. Rhio is of Hungarian-Cuban descent, raised in the U.S., but completely fluent in Spanish. Her first book, Hooked on Raw, is about living a life more closely aligned with Nature by adopting a raw/live food lifestyle. This 358-page book also covers many of the reasons for making these healthy lifestyle changes, as well as more than 350 raw recipes in all categories. Some of the recipes are very simple to prepare and some are more gourmet. Her second book, Aging in Reverse, is due out in 2020. Rhio has also contributed articles/chapters to more than 20 other books on raw/live foods.
CNN and American Journal aired stories on raw foods featuring Rhio. She is considered an expert in the area of raw and living foods and lectures on both the raw/live food lifestyle and the genetic engineering of seeds/plants.
As a singer, Rhio has appeared on numerous TV shows. Her second jazz album A Rhio Good Thing has been well received and played by jazz stations throughout the USA. Rhio is now completing her third jazz album entitled Blue which is scheduled for release in July 2019. Rhio and her partner Leigh’s latest endeavor is Rhio’s Garden, a truganic, biodynamic, and permaculture farm in Sullivan County, NY. Dedicated to the growing of really healthy and nutritious foods, Rhio’s Garden utilizes all the organic standards (and above) to grow food as Nature intended. Fertilizers used are rock dust, composted manure, composted kitchen scraps, weeds and other plant waste, hugelkultures, biodynamic preps, worm cappings, and Love. The focus is on edible wild foods, heirloom or open-pollinated vegetables, leafy greens and lettuces, fruit, berries and nuts.
On the horizon: Rhio’s video series on raw food preparation entitled What’s NOT Cookin’ in Rhio’s Kitchen Volume 2 is set for release in the Spring of 2020.
